A sensually textured balm for a lost soul desperately clinging for the comfort of solid ground amid the free fall. Minimal, downtempo, and lush. I thought of it at the time as making a “smooth” album, whatever that meant to me at the time. I wanted it to be a form of “ear candy” that could draw a listener into an intimate tale, while also acting as a sort of humanizing salve to any of the pain present in the album. Dizzying, disorienting, tumultuous… and yet grounded, comforting, and ultimately restoring a sense of humanity in an increasingly inhuman world.
